Matthew E. West, CIMA®
Founder and President
Matthew West is the Founder and President of West Capital Management. Matthew also serves on the firm’s Investment Committee, Planning Committee, and Compliance Committee. In 1994, Matthew founded West Capital Management after identifying the need for private wealth management with a deep focus on investment research, extensive planning, and objective advice for clients—seeking to offer the same combination of high touch service and specialized expertise normally available only to ultra-high net worth investors and large institutions. Matthew received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Kutztown University, where he currently sits on the University Foundation Board and the Kutztown University Investment Committee. In addition to staying involved with his alma mater, Matthew is passionate about community engagement and volunteering with charitable organizations. He has also completed study at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), given by the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
Christopher J. Topolewski, J.D.
Christopher Topolewski is a Principal and an Advisor at West Capital Management. Chris contributes technical expertise to West Capital Management in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning, deferred compensation, and ERISA. Chris brings a passion for working with families on estate planning to West Capital Management, one fostered by his personal experience with a family business and family education meetings beginning at a young age. Chris also uses his strong knowledge base in ERISA to construct plans for business owners and families. Prior to joining West Capital Management in 2002, Chris gained industry experience as an associate at Merit Capital Advisors and as a bond trader at Solomon Smith Barney. Chris received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Boston University as well as completed course work at the London School of Economics. He also holds a law degree (J.D.) and an MBA from Villanova University. Chris is very active with various charities and non-profits, such as the Abraham Lincoln Foundation. Chris is currently on the Admission Committee for the Union League of Philadelphia and was formerly a member of the Union League Board of Directors. He is a member of the Corporate Counsel Association of America and participates as an advisory board member for the Youth Orchestra of Philadelphia, as well as the Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia board. Furthermore, Chris is the 2012 recipient of the Golden Anchor Award by the Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation.
Timothy M. Macarak, CFP®
Tim Macarak is an Advisor at West Capital Management. Collaborating with all departments at West Capital Management, Tim works with individuals, families, and institutional clients to help them meet their financial goals and solve complex planning issues. Prior to West Capital, Tim was a Regional Director for Lockwood Advisors, a Bank of New York Company, where he provided investment advice, and practice management solutions to financial advisors, registered investment advisors and broker/dealers. Tim’s responsibilities also included identifying and executing on key marketing opportunities and strategies. Prior to Lockwood, Tim also held roles at TD Ameritrade and Piper Jaffray. He completed his undergraduate work at Temple University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Economics. Tim is also a Certified Financial Planner™.
Erik W. O’Neal, CIMA®
Erik O’Neal is an Advisor at West Capital Management. Erik works with individuals, families, and institutional clients to help them meet their financial goals and solve complex planning issues. Prior to joining West Capital Management, Erik had been in the financial industry for 8 years and had held key roles at MetLife and at a leading independent financial services company. Erik also founded a private consultancy group, working with both Fortune 500 clients and independent wealth managers. Erik is a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He has also completed study at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), and is a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute.
Mark W. Feldser, CPA
Mark Feldser is a Wealth Planner at West Capital Management and also serves on West Capital Management’s Planning Committee. In his role, Mark works with clients on a variety of planning areas by focusing on areas such as income tax and liability exposure, including trust, estate and retirement planning. Mark graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Mark’s previous professional experience was in public accounting with KPMG, LLP, as well as corporate finance and accounting experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Mark holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in the state of Pennsylvania and is currently working towards the IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, which requires in depth knowledge of all issues relating to individual and business taxation.
Garrett C. Spangler, J.D., LL.M.
Garrett Spangler is a Wealth Planner at West Capital Management and also serves on West Capital Management’s Planning Committee. In his role, Garrett works with clients on a varierty of planning areas such as trust and estate planning, business planning, and income tax and liability exposure. Prior to joining West Capital management, Garrett was an associate at The Erb Law Firm, PC practicing tax, estate, and business succession planning, with a focus on non-citizens and international planning for those with foreign assets. Garrett earned his law (J.D.) degree and Masters in Taxation (LL.M.) from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business.
Sony S. Mathew
Wealth Planning Administrator
Sony Mathew is a Wealth Planning Administrator at West Capital Management. Sony works closely with the Wealth Planning and Advisory Team to ensure procedures related to the WCM client experience are met with efficiency and attention to detail. Prior to joining West Capital Management, Sony was a Brokerage Investment Professional with the Vanguard Group. Sony graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Dane F. Czaplicki, CFA®
Director of Research
Dane Czaplicki, CFA® is West Capital Management’s Director of Research and also leads West Capital Management’s Investment Committee. Dane is responsible for due diligence on managers/strategies, portfolio construction, and portfolio implementation. Prior to joining West Capital Management in 2007, Dane was an investment analyst at both Veritable, LP and Lockwood Advisors, Inc. At Lockwood Advisors and Veritable, Dane was responsible for identifying investment strategies, interviewing managers, and performing due diligence. Dane began his financial career with The Vanguard Group. Dane graduated cum laude from Bloomsburg University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently is a member of the Bloomsburg University Foundation, Inc. Investment Committee. Dane has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
David A. Navarro, CFA®
David Navarro, CFA® is a Research Analyst on West Capital Management’s Research Team and also serves on West Capital Management’s Investment Committee. David is responsible for investment due diligence on managers/strategies, portfolio construction, and portfolio implementation. David has 18 years of industry experience, joining West Capital Management from a wealth management firm where he was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst responsible for designing and analyzing client portfolios. His prior experience also includes investing directly both in public and private securities. David’s career began with nine years at Bear Stearns. David graduated with a B.S. in Finance from Rutgers University and he has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
Andrew B. Sachais
Andrew Sachais is a Research Analyst on West Capital Management’s Research Team and also serves on West Capital Management’s Investment Committee. Andrew is responsible for due diligence on managers/strategies, portfolio construction, and portfolio implementation. Prior to joining West Capital Management, Andrew was an analyst at Opus Atlanta, where he worked on the long/short equity desk. He has also written for various financial publications on macroeconomic trends and monetary policy. Andrew graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Andrew is currently a Level III CFA Candidate in the CFA® Program.
Ethan L. Kaye, CFA®
Ethan Kaye is a Research Analyst on West Capital Management’s Research Team and also serves on West Capital Management’s Investment Committee. Ethan’s responsibilities include portfolio implementation, portfolio construction and manager/strategy due diligence. Prior to joining West Capital, Ethan was an analyst at Nationwide Investment Management Group where he helped maintain oversight on the firm’s investment lineup. Ethan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Franklin and Marshall College. Ethan has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
Erik R. Hickman
Erik Hickman is a Research Analyst on West Capital Management’s Research Team and also serves on West Capital Management’s Investment Committee. In addition to performing due diligence on managers and strategies, Erik brings an expertise in technology to the Research Team. Erik graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a Concentration in Finance and a Minor in Political Science.
Sarah J. Ryder
Sarah Ryder is West Capital Management’s Office Manager. In her current role, Sarah works closely with all departments at West Capital Management to help maintain a collaborative and dynamic work environment. Prior to joining West Capital Management, Sarah was in the non-profit sphere, working as Office Manager and Assistant to the CEO of Penn Medicine Neighborhood Health in West Chester. Sarah graduated from Albright College in Reading, PA with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science.
Christine F. Taylor
Christine Taylor is the Systems Manager at West Capital Management. As Systems Manager, Christine collaborates closely with each department at West Capital Management to enhance internal workflows and to advance the Company’s technological infrastructure. These ongoing systematic improvements strengthen West Capital Management’s unparalleled client servicing and reporting procedures. Prior to West Capital Management, Christine worked in the retail industry as an Assistant Buyer. She was also a Research Analyst at Veritable where she conducted extensive money manager research and due diligence. Christine graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
